ECC: REDLINE Athletes: All Known Characters and Abilities
Discover all known ECC: REDLINE athletes and their abilities, including grappling hooks, ziplines, mobility skills, sword attacks, and team support.
ECC: REDLINE features playable characters called Athletes, each equipped with abilities designed around movement, combat, or squad support. NetEase has confirmed that players can combine different Athletes in four-person squads, while early Chinese hands-on previews have revealed several characters and their equipment.
Four Athletes have been identified by name in prerelease coverage: 飞羽, 锋鸢, 热点, and 白芷. Their abilities include grappling hooks, deployable ziplines, mobility skills, and sword-based combat.
The game's full character roster has not been announced, and the official English names for these Athletes remain unconfirmed.
All known ECC: REDLINE Athletes
The following characters have appeared in Chinese gameplay previews or promotional footage.
| Athlete (Chinese name) | Known abilities | Main focus |
|---|---|---|
| 飞羽 (Feiyu) | Tactical grappling hook, portable squad zipline | Traversal and squad mobility |
| 锋鸢 (Fengyuan) | Mobility leap, wall-bounce ability | Rapid repositioning |
| 热点 (Redian) | Parkour-oriented mobility | Agile movement |
| 白芷 (Baizhi) | Bullet blocking, sword-assisted dash | Defense and close-range movement |
The romanizations above are provided for reference and are not confirmed English character names. The descriptions reflect prerelease reporting rather than a complete official ability list.
Feiyu (飞羽) — Grappling hook and squad zipline
Feiyu is one of the most extensively documented Athletes in ECC: REDLINE's early coverage.
Her prerelease background includes shooting sports and mountain operations. Her equipment reflects that experience, with two distinct movement abilities.
Her tactical ability, 战术钩爪 (Tactical Grappling Hook), allows her to grapple and move in different directions. She also carries 便携滑索装置 (Portable Zipline Device), a deployable zipline that squad members can use to travel between two points.
The zipline is particularly relevant to squad movement. Unlike a personal grappling hook, it provides a traversal option for teammates as well.
These abilities support movement through low buildings and open spaces, as well as reaching elevated positions.
Feiyu's mobility equipment is well documented, although its exact range, cooldowns, and deployment restrictions have not been confirmed.
Fengyuan (锋鸢) — Mobility leap and wall bounce
Fengyuan is another movement-focused Athlete, but her equipment works differently from Feiyu's.
Her prerelease background identifies her as a former member of a Russian wingsuit airborne unit. Her tactical ability, 机动突跃, is a mobility leap that lets her cross distances other Athletes may struggle to cover.
The preview also describes a passive ability called 墙面弹跳 (Wall Bounce), which helps her reach elevated ledges when moving across changes in height.
Together, these abilities give Fengyuan options for moving between rooftops, buildings, and other elevated areas.
A close-range submachine gun could complement her ability to close distance quickly, while a sniper or marksman rifle could benefit from her ability to reposition between firing locations.
These are possible pairings, not independently tested optimal loadouts.
NetEase's official description also references wall bounces as part of ECC: REDLINE's broader movement system. It remains unclear whether Fengyuan's passive provides a distinct version of that mechanic or modifies movement available to other Athletes.
Redian (热点) — Parkour-oriented mobility
Redian is an Athlete associated with particularly agile movement.
The character combines parkour with mobility suited to urban environments, including fights around streets and buildings.
Unlike Feiyu and Fengyuan, Redian does not yet have a clearly documented ability list in the available reporting.
Specific skill names, cooldowns, and mechanical effects remain unknown. There is also insufficient information to establish whether Redian specializes in increased movement speed, unique parkour actions, or another form of mobility.
For now, Redian can be identified as a movement-oriented Athlete, but a more detailed gameplay guide would require additional footage or access to the game.
Baizhi (白芷) — Sword movement and bullet blocking
Baizhi has been shown using sword-based abilities in ECC: REDLINE's promotional footage.
Two actions are visible in the reveal material: blocking incoming bullets and performing a forward movement with a drawn blade.
Unlike the grappling-focused Athletes, Baizhi appears to combine defensive actions with aggressive movement.
Baizhi's description is based on reveal footage, not direct testing of her complete ability kit.
That leaves several mechanical questions unanswered, including how long bullet blocking lasts, what attacks it can stop, and whether the forward blade movement deals damage.
The footage establishes the existence of those actions, but it does not provide enough information to define Baizhi's complete combat role or recommend specific weapon combinations.
What other Athlete abilities are confirmed?
NetEase's official Steam description identifies three broad functions within the Athlete system: blocking incoming fire, supporting teammates, and using grappling equipment to enter combat.
Grappling is already associated with Feiyu in prerelease information. The official description does not identify the characters responsible for every other function.
Prerelease material also describes a health-support beacon and equipment associated with support, smoke, and disruption.
These details indicate that ECC: REDLINE's abilities extend beyond movement, but the following details remain incomplete:
-
Defensive equipment: NetEase confirms an Athlete capable of blocking incoming fire, without publishing the complete mechanics.
-
Health support: Official Chinese promotional material references beacon-based health support, although its exact operation is not documented.
-
Smoke and disruption: Additional characters appear to have these types of equipment, but their complete kits remain unknown.
The available information does not establish whether these functions belong to distinct formal classes. Labels such as Support, Recon, or Assault should not be treated as official Athlete classifications until NetEase confirms them.
How Athlete abilities affect squad composition
ECC: REDLINE's main tactical survival experience uses four-player squads, and NetEase specifically emphasizes selecting Athletes with complementary abilities.
The clearest documented example is Feiyu's portable zipline. It provides movement infrastructure that other squad members can use, making her equipment relevant beyond her own positioning.
The existence of defensive and health-support abilities also gives squads options other than stacking mobility-focused characters.
There are limits to what can currently be recommended. The complete roster, ability cooldowns, healing values, defensive restrictions, and character selection rules have not been established.
Without those details, there is no reliable basis for ranking the strongest Athletes or declaring a particular four-character composition the best.
When will more ECC: REDLINE characters be revealed?
ECC: REDLINE's first limited PC test is scheduled to begin October 15, 2026, according to the game's official Chinese announcement.
That test should provide an opportunity to establish which Athletes are playable in the initial build and how their abilities function in actual matches.
As of October 9, NetEase has not published a complete English character roster or comprehensive ability database.
The four named Athletes covered here are those documented in the available prerelease sources, not necessarily the full lineup. Their names, skill descriptions, and numerical values will need to be checked against the English game client as more information becomes available.
